No downsides, of course.
Those advocating for lockdowns are either casually supporting them out of fear (borne of ignorance), or they support authoritarian colllectivism due to an affiliction with some combination of narcissism, nihilism, psychopathy, sociopathy.
Can it be proven? Yes, it’s very easy, because:
- They will not enumerate any significant downside to lockdowns, yet they;
- Aren’t engaged in advocating for permanent lockdowns.
If there’s no downside, and you are so concerned with saving lives, then why wouldn’t you aim to make lockdowns permanent?
The truth is that, even if they knew the net effect was not in their favour, they would still believe it effective because it is a strategy to enforce compliance, thus the effectiveness is evaluated in terms of a meta-effectiveness towards any future threat which MIGHT be appropriate.
